Dear Fancy Family,
This blog is a little different. As you know, Fancy Peasant, for me, is all about family. We've created an olive oil that focuses on the details and makes daily things feel special. Our family had the sweetest start to September, celebrating precious London Vasili's Christening. All three of my boys' Baptisms have been very different, but each has been so special in its own way. When we celebrated Greyson, it was the first (of now countless parties) we had at home - we needed to have it outside because we had zero furniture. We were brand new homeowners and parents. When we celebrated Roman Fotios, we were in my family's village in Vavouri, Greece, and it was the first Christening to be celebrated in 75 years. London's Christening was a little more last minute, and we wanted something beautiful and intimate so we just had each of our children's godparents and our immediate family. I've been getting tons of questions about who did our tables, cake, flowers... the details that made this day so special. This newsletter is dedicated to the amazing team that helped me pull this off. One of the greatest things I have experienced as an entrepreneur, despite the many struggles, is the support I continue to receive from this community. This blog pays it forward to my fabulous friends and collaborators that inspire me and those around them every day.

Into the Blue

I am a true boy mom. I have always been in love with and inspired by the classic combination of blue and white. When I was planning this event, there was no other color combination I had in mind.

Leave it to LoveShackFancy to create the most beautiful linens. We got to turn the napkins into pocket square keepsakes my boys can treasure for the rest of their lives.

I created this family crest a few years ago as a fun project for my birthday. I was so happy to incorporate something from our home linen collection into this tablescape as it was one of the first events I have ever done “off-site.” My dear friend Stefanie Nass from Chefanie helped me make them.

Fancy Takeaways: Let Food Be Thy Medicine

All of our guests left with a bottle of our newest Fancy Peasant Favorite Greek Mountain Oregano Salts. There’s no better gift than the simple and clean seasoning inspired by the traditional dishes and flavors of Greece. Packed with Oregano, Sea Salt, Lemon, Orange, Chili Pepper, and Parsley, this little salt blend will carry you and your loved ones through the changing season. It’s why we gave them to everyone who came to the party.

It’s All in The Details

In the blink of an eye, Nicholas from Nicholas Jones Creative was able to take my inspiration and turn it into GOLD. And as always, my go-to for flowers is Sag Harbor Florists. Arrangements by a dear friend and the best damn florist on the planet, Anastasia.

The Cake Cakes By Lana New York came through with this beauty. I told Lana we wanted blue and white, abstract and timeless. With that to go on, I think we can all agree she created the sweetest cake in the game.

The Signature Bottle Look at this shot of our 500 mL modeling. She was on every table for dipping, dressing, and decorating. The Everything Olive Oil does it again.

I had never heard of these beautiful bracelets, but London’s fabulous Nouna, Olga Karloutsos (who I get to tell you all about in a second), showed me these and I fell in love. Martyrika is a Greek word which means “Sign of Witnessing.” Traditionally in Greek Baptisms, Martyrika are worn by guests who attend and witness the beautiful sacrament. Ours were made by the fabulous Koufeto by Dina.

Godmother of the Moment

It is truly a great honor to be called upon to be the godparent in the Greek Orthodox Faith. I knew the second I was pregnant I would ask one of my best friends on the planet, Olga Karloutsos, to baptize London Vasili, making us FAMILY. Olga has been teaching yoga for over a decade and also helps put together the perfect party. Whether handling VIPS, connecting with the perfect brands, or finding the most lovely little things, she is the #1.

Love,

Anastasia
